Overview

gogoSERVER™ is an IPv6 transition appliance that provides interoperability between v4 and v6 networks, services, applications and devices, enabling the incremental deployment of IPv6. Telcos, cable operators, governments, research and education and enterprises use the gogoSERVER with the gogoCLIENT and/or gogoCPE to migrate their networks to IPv6. gogoSERVER powers the Freenet6 services offered on this website. gogoSERVER provides carrier grade functionality including high capacity throughput, redundancy, high reliability, scalability and in-service upgradeability. It has been tested and proven, having been used by tens of thousands of users from around the world.

It offers industry standard network configuration interface and management functions. In tunnel mode it supports up to 50,000 simultaneous users.

IPv6 in IPv4 tunnels

gogoSERVER automates the configuration of IPv6 in IPv4 tunnels as specified in RFC 2893 using TSP as specified in RFC 5572. Because this standard is available on all IPv6-enabled hosts and routers on the market, gogoSERVER provides IPv6 connectivity to any existing device.

Reliable NAT traversal

The gogoSERVER supports IPv6 in UDP IPv4 tunnels, allowing it to establish IPv6 connectivity even when an IPv4 Network Address Translation (NAT) device is in the path. This technology works through all NAT devices including symmetric and cone devices, as well as nested NAT devices. The NAT is discovered automatically and requires no user intervention.

IPv4 in IPv6 tunnels

gogoSERVER supports IPv4 in IPv6 tunnels as per the IETF's DSTM specification. It allows the deployment of IPv4 services to dual-stack hosts behind an IPv6-only network and facilitates the deployment of next-generation networks. With DSTM, IPv4 addresses allocated are allocated only for the period of time that dual-stack clients need an IPv4 connection, reducing the consumption rate of IPv4 addresses.

Reliable delegation of IPv6 or IPv4 prefixes

The server delegates prefixes of any length (for example, IPv6 /48 or /64, IPv4 /24 or /26) to devices acting as a router. The gogoCLIENT automatically configures router advertisements or DHCP, thus providing connectivity to all hosts within a network.

DNS registration and reverse delegation

Addresses assigned by the server are automatically registered in a DNS server. Using this feature, individual hosts can be referenced using a name rather than their address.

Dual-stack lite

gogoSERVER offers address independent IPv4 support using IPv4 over IPv6 encapsultation in combination with NAT, dual-stack lite. This is a tool that allows Internet service providers to ensure business continuity regardless of the supply of IPv4 addresses.

6RD

In addition to managed tunneling with TSP gogoSERVER provides stateless IPv6 in IPv4 tunneling using 6RD. 6RD together with TSP provides the operator the flexibility to provide the right type of IPv6 connection to the user.

Monitoring

gogoSERVER offers extensive monitoring capabilities through SNMP. It allows administrators to easily keep track of the number of connected users, bandwidth usage, number of available tunnels, etc. gogoSERVER supports industry standard MIBs, as well as Hexago's MIB for specific data.

AAA

gogoSERVER authenticates the users, enabling operators to control who has access to the tunneling service. gogoSERVER has full support for Radius and even address asignment can be done using Radius.

QoS

The QoS field value is preserved when a packet is encapsulated by gogoCLIENT or gogoSERVER. The QoSfields of the encapsulating packet always reflects the fields of the encapsulated packet, hence preserving its QoS value.

Redirection

gogoSERVER can be deployed over multiple sites, providing better availability and scalability. gogoCLIENT can automatically select a server ensuring an optimized path to IPv6 networks. The client’s ability to detect connectivity failures and reconnect to alternate server significantly improves network availability.

HAP6 (Home Access Platform)

gogoSERVER includes HAP6, which is the basis for IPv6 based home services. It allows the end user to easily connect to services/devices in the home using IPv4 or IPv6.
